The United Nations recently declared that February 10 will now mark World Pulses Day. The day recognizes that pulse crops are strong sources of plant-based proteins and amino acids for human diets and offer invaluable ecosystem services. The UN previously declared 2016 the International Year of Pulses. Read more about the declaration online.
Spotlight: Katharina Scherf
Katharina Scherf is head of the Functional Biopolymer Chemistry research unit at the Leibniz-Institute for Food Systems Biology at the Technical University of Munich in Freising, Germany.
