Armstrong et al. compare the effectiveness of four instruments to measure rice chalk. All instruments were effective in classifying chalk, but their level of accuracy depended on how chalk is defined.

New this year, the Rice Short Course features a two-day program packed with more educational content than ever before. Attendees will glean valuable knowledge on rice milling, breeding, and quality. Winners of the Best Student Research Paper Competition were announced at Cereals & Grains 19 in Denver, Colorado, this November. The finalists received a $650 travel grant for attending the annual meeting. Winners identified a scientific issue or question within cereal science that is relevant to current needs of industry, academia, or society.
