Infrared and Raman spectra of maltooligosaccharides (G1-G12) have been obtained. Maltooligosaccharides G2 and higher could not be readily distinguished by their infrared spectra. The Raman spectra of crystalline glucose and maltose showed distinct vibrational bands, but maltotriose and all higher oligosaccharrides exhibited such high fluorescence that the virbrational bands were obscured.
