Will your symposium content be innovative and provide cutting edge advances in cereal grain science?
This question should be top-of-mind as you gather speakers and define key topics and take-aways for your symposium proposal. AACCI is looking for sessions that are:
- inspired, offering creative vision that poses the question, “What if…?”
- forward-thinking, yet built upon solid science
- positioned to tackle important issues
- provocative, fostering further discussion of solutions and roadblocks
- comprehensive and interdisciplinary, including research and applied methods
The 2016 Meeting Technical Program Planning Committee will be looking for proposals that address:
- New Advances in Cereal Grain Science
- Feeding the World with Cereal Grains – Leveraging Scientific Advancements
- Benefits of Cereal Grains – Farm to Table Scientific Advancements
- Health issues related to cereal food intake, with a strong focus on dietary fiber, whole grain and bioactive components Flour and grain quality testing
- Educating the public on grains as part of a healthy diet and GM related issues
- Ingredient replacement strategies and the potential of enzymes
These topics are merely suggestions; this list should not be considered complete.
Approaches and inclusion for a successful submission:
- Clarity of objectives and scope of content for the session; what will the session accomplish?
- Innovation, what’s new?
- Including new speakers to your sessions
- Global approach
- Completeness of submission

Format options for 2016 sessions:
- Science Café (panel presentations) are 1-1/2 to 2 hour time slots with 60- to 75- minutes of presentations and remaining time for discussion.
- Symposia (standard format) are 1 hour 40-minutes with (5) 20-minute time slots.
- Premeeting Workshops are typically 1/2-day or full-day schedules.
