The Cecil F. Pinney Travel Award is a travel grant for professionals to attend the Cereals & Grains Association Annual Meeting.

2020 Application Information
The candidate for the award must
- Be a Cereals & Grains Association member
- Be a new professional in their career less than eight years as of March 1 of the year of application.
The candidate can apply for the travel award or can be nominated. Achievements and participation in Cereals & Grains Association activities will be considered in relation to the age and experience of the candidate.
The award will be considered a travel grant in which the recipient must attend the Cereals & Grains Association Annual Meeting in the year of the award.
Up to 2 awards of $1000 each. In addition, a one-year membership to the division of the recipient’s choice will be awarded to the recipient. Previous Cecil F. Pinney Travel Award recipients are eligible to apply for future awards, but they are limited to receiving this award three times within the eight-year time frame. To be considered for future awards, applicants must submit a new application each year. If an award has been made to a candidate, but the candidate cannot attend the meeting, the candidate will not receive the benefits of the award. The candidate can re-apply the following year provided that they meet the eligibility criteria.
Purpose
To recognize Cereals & Grains Association members who are new in their professional careers and who will become the next generation of leaders in the field of grain science and technology.
Scope
The Cereals & Grains Association Foundation Cecil F. Pinney Travel Award is presented to an individual establishing a career in grain science and technology. An emphasis on encouraging the involvement of the next generation of grain scientists is essential to the future of Cereals & Grains Association. The Cecil F. Pinney Travel Award is a travel grant for new professionals to attend the Cereals & Grains Association Annual Meeting. This award aims to develop the leaders of tomorrow by providing them the opportunity to attend the Cereals & Grains Association Annual Meeting to network with other members of the organization.
This award is not intended to be used as a student travel grant. This award is for nonstudent Cereals & Grains Association members.
Award
The award will be considered a travel grant in which the recipient must attend the Cereals & Grains Association Annual Meeting in the year of the award. one $1500 award is available. In addition, a one-year membership to the division of their choice will be awarded to the recipient.
Eligibility
The candidate for the award must be an Cereals & Grains Association member interested in some aspect of grain science and technology. This award is for new professionals who have been in their career less than eight years as of March 1 of the year of application. Preference will be given to nominees or applicants with a demonstrated need for the support to attend the Cereals & Grains Association. Annual Meeting. Previous Cecil F. Pinney Travel Award recipients are eligible to apply for future awards, but they are limited to receiving this award three times within the eight-year time frame. To be considered for future awards, the person must submit a new application each year. If an award has been made to a candidate, but the candidate cannot attend the meeting, the candidate will not receive the benefits of the award. Application Procedure

Nomination packets should contain the following:
- 2020 Application Form
- An application cover sheet that includes the applicant’s name, educational background and current position and economic need.
- A resume that is no more than two pages, including supporting data and descriptions of previous Cereals & Grains Association involvement, as well activities in grain science and technology.
- Nomination letter (or letter of context if self nominating)
